Monorail Decal Application
Before you start, please be aware that the Monorail decals are a bit different from my standard decals. There is an extra cut in the monorail decals that will allow the color of your MagicBand to show through to represent the colored stripe on the Monorail train cars. You can apply this decal two ways: keeping the extra cut-out piece in tact while applying, or removing the Monorail decal from the backing paper without the cut-out piece and applying without it. I will show you both methods below.
Additionally, when you have two halves of the Monorail design, the trains on each piece will face in opposite directions. It does not matter which side you start with. If you have just one Monorail decal half that you are mixing with another design, the direction your train is facing will be randomly selected.
Monorail decals look FANTASTIC when applied over top of a glitter decal, with more than 2 dozen glitter color choices! Simply apply a glitter decal to your MagicBand first, then apply the monorail over top for a glittery Monorail stripe.
Now on to the application!
Step 1: Clean your band and apply some heat. Please return to this page for tips on cleaning your MagicBand, and applying some heat to aid in application and ensure the best adhesion possible.
Step 2: Keeping the cut-out piece in tact, carefully remove one half of the Monorail decal from the backing paper. If you were unable to hold onto that extra cut-out piece when removing your decal from the paper, don’t panic. Skip forward to Step 7 and I’ll show you what to do!
Step 3: Holding your decal between your thumb and forefinger close to the center, begin applying your decal in the center of your MagicBand 2.0, directly adjacent to the opening where the Disney Icon disc is located. Leave those side pieces loose for now while you position the decal on the band.
Step 4: Pull gently but firmly downward, centering your decal as you go. Before you reach the end, bend your decal up a bit to pop out the cut piece.
Step 5: Peel away the cut piece, then smooth down your band decal, rubbing all over to ensure proper adhesion.
Step 6: Now that the main portion of the decal is in place, smooth the decal over the curve of the band, then position those center pieces left hanging before. Slide your thumb around the curve of the Icon opening to position each side. You can carefully lift these ends and reposition if you don’t get it quite right the first time. Rub all over again to ensure proper adhesion.
Step 7: Apply the other half of your decal in the same manner. If you weren’t able keep hold of that cut piece up in Step 2, don’t worry! With a bit of extra patience, you can still successfully apply your Monorail decal.
This time, don’t worry about the cut piece. Carefully remove the decal from the backing paper. Get 2 or 3 fingers under the decal so it doesn’t fold in on itself. Without the cut piece, it’s a bit more floppy.
Step 8: Begin applying your decal in the center of your MagicBand 2.0, directly adjacent to the opening where the Disney Icon disc is located. Again, leave those side pieces loose for now while you position the decal on the band.
Step 9: It can be challenging to apply this decal in one motion without the cut-out piece. Instead, line up one side and adhere halfway down the band. Then pick up the other side and line up an even distance from the first side, keeping the cut-out window a uniform width.
Step 10: With both sides even, press down the end of your decal, and rub all over for proper adhesion. Finally, smooth the decal over the curve of the band, then position those center pieces left hanging before. Slide your thumb around the curve of the Icon opening to position each side. You can carefully lift these ends and reposition if you don’t get it quite right the first time. Rub all over again to ensure proper adhesion.
